A. Definition :
Internal medicine is the specialty that deals with internal organs (such as the heart, lungs, digestive system, etc.) and therefore deals with a multitude of different pathologies. This is the specialty of complex cases, rare cases. In other words, it is a versatile specialty. Internal medicine acts as a link between general medicine and specialized organ medicine. It is also said that the internist is the specialist in diagnostics, that he is best equipped to identify and propose treatment for diseases affecting several organs simultaneously.
B. Training :
6 years as Physician in trainee at the University Hospitals of Geneva ( HUG ) in the different specialties ( Hemato-Oncology, Emergencies, Intensive Care, Cardiomobile, Angiology / Hemostasis, Neurology, Rheumatology, Rehabilitation ), including a full year of Polisurgery for the emergencies and surgery / Orthopedics-Traumatology at the Emergency Department of HUG ( 1992-1998 )
5 years as Fellow Physician at the Cantonal Hospital of Fribourg ( HFR ), in particular for Emergencies, Intensive Care, isolettes ( leukaemias ), as right-hand man of the Chief of Oncology of the Canton of Fribourg, Dr. Paul Pugin, and for cardiology: stress tests and especially Pacemakers (participation in 2/3 of the approximately 120 annual cardiac pacemaker implantations at that time, and more than a thousand cardiac pacemaker checks). Responsible for continuing education at the HFR Medicine Clinic.
Independent doctor since 2003, accredited by the DALER Hospital, where the doctor’s office is located, and by the General Clinic (Genollier Group – Swiss Medical Network). I work within a Medical-Surgical Team and a group of reference gyneco-obstetricians, including a number of former executives from public hospitals in half of Romandie; I provide medical emergencies and inter-disciplinary consiliums there for these different specialists, in addition to my practice in office, or my duties for university teaching in my various specialties.
